Greenhouse tomato
Tomato is the queen of the greenhouse in West Africa: in demand all year, fragile under rain, it gains enormously from growing under cover — fewer diseases, cleaner fruit, a harvest spread over several months.
The keys to success
- Trellis the plants on strings from the first weeks: the plant climbs, the greenhouse is used in height.
- Irrigate with drip, regularly and without excess: irregular watering splits the fruit.
- Ventilate as much as possible: dry foliage is the best protection against disease.
- Remove the suckers weekly to focus the sap on the fruit.
